Self Catering Cottages on The Isle of Mull

Treshnish and Haunn Cottages are a selection of 8 eco-friendly cottages all situated on a beautiful coastal farm, near Calgary Beach on the Isle of Mull. From traditional romantic crofters’ blackhouses to a spacious converted Studio, the cottages sleep from 2 persons up to 6. Each cottage is individually decorated with an eclectic mix of antique and contemporary furnishings, original artworks, to create a welcoming home from home.

We are proud members of the Green Tourism Business Scheme and holders of their Gold Award since 2001. We are passionate about the environment and manage the cottages sustainably to ensure we do all we can to reduce our carbon footprint. We have an electric car chargepoint at the farm, powered by one of our wind turbines.

We have lived and farmed here since 1994, and carefully manage the land, without artificial fertilisers to protect and enhance the variety of habitats for wildlife and to encourage biodiversity. In the summer the grassland is full of wild flowers and grasses providing cover for ground nesting birds and sometimes an occasional Corncrake. We often see Hen harriers, Otters, White tailed and Golden eagles.

With 4 miles of dramatic coastline there is plenty to explore without getting in the car. The Treshnish Headland Walk is popular with islanders and visitors alike, it has fabulous views of 18 different Hebridean islands, and lots of history to discover – including a hidden illicit whisky still in a cave! We are well placed for exploring the wider area of north Mull too. Calgary Beach is close by, with a cafe and ice cream shack open during the summer season. We are happy to share directions to other beaches nearby too. Colourful Tobermory is a 50 minute drive away, the main settlement on the island and home to Mull Theatre and An Tobar art centre, as well as cafes and restaurants. Our nearest shop is the friendly Dervaig Stores, 8 miles away – no need to shop before you arrive on the island! The nearest pub is in Dervaig too.

The Isle of Mull is renowned as a wildlife destination. Why not take a boat trip with Turus Mara to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles to look for Puffins, from Ulva Ferry, or join a tour from Nature Scotland based in Dervaig.
