Coorie Cottage at Castaway Cove

Self Catering Accommodation in Ullapool

Escape to ‘Coorie Cottage…’ The Scottish word ‘Coorie’ means; “A hug or embrace…the Scottish art of providing comfort, wellbeing and energy from wild landscapes and welcoming interiors”. A stunning oasis of calm by the sheltered waters of Castaway Cove on the shores of Lochbroom. The mountains tumbling through rocky outcrops and whispering trees, down to the seashore. Caressed by the Gulf Stream with a remarkable micro-climate, sub-tropical plants and trees create a haven for the perfect escape from the world outside. A magical and exclusive sanctuary where tranquillity is disturbed only by the gentle lapping of waves on the shore.

Here in this stunning part of the North West Highlands the traveller will discover a truly unique luxury holiday home set in seven acres of its own grounds with private foreshore, beach and jetty. For the romantic couple seeking that illusive opportunity to escape and immerse the soul in a special place that never fails to enrich those whose path leads them to here.

Originally a three hundred year old Highland bothy, Coorie Cottage has been lovingly restored to create the very high standards of accommodation expected from a five star luxury holiday home, whilst retaining all the charm and character of a traditional Highland hideaway.

The exquisite interior is tasteful and comfortable with beautiful furnishings including the most romantic of four poster beds, complimented by a fabulous log burning stove to keep guests snug and warm regardless of the weather outside. Follow a relaxing hot tub with a bottle of wine and a sheep skin rug in front of a roaring log fire, the perfect way to experience ‘coorie’ after a day out walking the hills.

Truly ‘off-grid’. This remote cottage is five miles from the nearest habitation at the end of a private track. Your only company will be the owners and their dog Max who live discreetly nearby, close enough to be there to help when necessary, perhaps a boat trip across the loch to the fishing village of Ullapool. Otherwise your privacy is ensured.

Whilst affording a remarkable experience in wilderness living the cottage boasts all the amenities expected from a luxury holiday home. Renewable energy by solar and micro-hydro, a safe natural water supply from a mountain stream and with every effort made to create an eco-friendly environment whilst ensuring the complete comfort of guests who venture to this wonderful and inspiring part of the Highlands. By staying Coorie Cottage you will actually reduce your carbon footprint.

Surrounded by nature the wildlife at Coorie Cottage on Lochbroom is exceptional. Our own resident otter family, seals, dolphins and porpoise with the occasional whale in the loch. Above soar golden eagles and the white tailed sea eagle with numerous other birdlife, some of which are extremely rare. The observant may spot the illusive pine marten and red squirrels can be seen in the forests of the nearby Dundonnell Estate. A true haven for lovers of the natural world and where your favourite canine friend is also welcome.
