Built between 1812-1814 Craigellachie Bridge spans the river Spey near the village of Aberlour, Moray

Aberlour sits in the heart of Speyside, a whisky region known for its clean, crisp malts originating from the waters of the River Spey itself. It is an attractive village, set on the banks of the River Spey.

Many visitors are drawn to the region by the abundance of distilleries, and indeed many hours can be spent touring these icons of Scottish industry. Aberlour Distillery is located in the village itself, and the famous Glenfiddich is found close by. We recommend looking at the Malt Whisky Trail to plan your route around the distilleries (and a cooperage).

Whisky isn’t the only iconic Scottish produce originating from Aberlour; it is home to Walkers Shortbread, whose red and black tartan packaging is recognisable worldwide.

The Speyside Way, a 60-mile route from Buckie on the Moray coast to Aviemore in the Cairngorms. The Old Station in the village serves as a tearoom as well as the Speyside Way Visitor Centre, so be sure to stop and refuel!

Keen walkers are not far from the Cairngorms National Park in Aberlour, home to 4 of Scotland’s 5 highest mountains and the Cairngorms Plateau, a tundra-like series of peaks extending from Aviemore to Braemar.

The Moray coast can be reached in half an hour, and we recommend a visit to Spey Bay where dolphins can be seen leaping as they forage for salmon heading upstream.

Aberlour is a place of tradition, home to iconic Scottish produce and set in the rolling Speyside landscape. It is well-placed to access mountains to the south, the coast to the east and distilleries to visit all around.
