A big part of visiting somewhere different is the local cuisine and we have been very select when choosing restaurants and cafes for this section. We have checked that local produce is used wherever possible and hopefully the menus will offer you something you may not otherwise try. Quality, service and good reviews have also been taken into consideration. Be bold, be brave and give those taste buds something to think about!

And let’s not forget drinking! With many areas brewing their own craft beers and even some gin distillers, you can sample a drink you otherwise wouldn’t perhaps come across.  Many beer producers offer tours and tastings and they also make a fantastic gift.

Ninth Wave Restaurant – Fresh Seafood & Island Game – Fionnphort, Isle of Mull

Winner Restaurant of the Year 2013 – H&I Awards

Ninth Wave’s approach is based on seasonality, using the croft’s own home-grown produce, fresh-caught seafood and organic meats from the Island of Mull. Our ethos is one where luxury meets environmental awareness.  Owners John & Carla Lamont invite you to explore the daily changing menu that is sourced from fisherman’s sustainable catches and crofter’s bounty.

Lobster, crab, hand-dived scallops and fish are often caught only hours before appearing on your dinner plate. John, a local fisherman himself, will not only catch your lobster and crab on his wee fishing boat the “Sonsie”, but will also be your waiter and wine steward for the evening.

Is it any wonder this restaurant was awarded the Winner of RESTAURANT of the YEAR Award 2013 – Highlands & Islands.
